How does where you live measure up to the regional averages?

A new study has broken down exactly how much it costs to get married in the various regions of the UK.

The numbers vary hugely, with couples in the East Midlands on average spending just under £15k (£14,400), and newlyweds in Inner London spending over three times as much.

Bidvine.com collected quotes from suppliers across the country to work out average costs for every aspect of a couple's celebration - from catering and flowers to photography and cakes, and everything in between.

The list of UK regions based on cost of weddings is as follows:

1. Inner London - £46,200

2. Greater London - £41,060

3. North West - £39,120

4. South East - £33,005

5. Scotland - £30,280

6. North East - £29,005

7. Wales - £21,680

8. West Midlands- £20,348

9. South West - £18,840

10. East Midlands - £14,400

Couples in Inner London spend the most, with the average celebration costing £46,200; couples in the East Midlands pay 68% less, with their nuptials costing £14,400.

Russ Morgan, co-founder of Bidvine.com said: "It’s always interesting to find out which areas of the UK are the most expensive for different services, and wedding costs is a particularly interesting sector. There’s a direct correlation with the price of utilities and the price of local services, which would explain why areas with high house prices demand higher wedding costs".

The information is in contrast to this recent survey, which suggests the average UK wedding will cost £11,441 this year.
