Survey finds the effect the 2016 US election has had on our sex lives

Published 10th Nov 2016

Almost a fifth of US women have admitted that the 'stress and worry' has been a total turn-off

If you're still reeling from yesterday's US Presidential Election result, we've got news of a whole other angle to give you even more food for thought.

A new study has found that the US election has had a truly far-reaching effect on people - even impacting our between-the-sheets action.

Yes, people: Trump-v-Clinton has had a negative impact on our sex lives.

8 ways to unwind the night before your wedding

In the run-up to this week's Election Day, a study by fertility app Kindara revealed that 19% of US women indicated that the stress and worry surrounding who would become the new US President had had a negative impact on their sex drives.

Of the 928 app users who were quizzed, a further 18% said that bad economic news had a negative impact on their sex lives, whilst 4% said they would delay getting pregnant depending on the result of who won.

New study reveals married couples most likely to have similar DNA

It seems that Democrats have felt it the hardest, with a quarter saying they were looking forward to having sex more than voting - compared to 45% of Republicans.

Obviously the numbers aren't to be taken too seriously - with a very niche pool of people quizzed - but hopefully now that the results are in, normal service between the sheets can resume.
